You say potato, we say potahto. Either way… WE’RE BOTH DEAD!
On Wednesday, the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition published an eight-year study which analyzed potato consumption among 4,400 people between the ages of 45 and 79.
Although the starchy crop was not inherently linked to negative health effects, stuffing your face with FRIED potatoes (including French fries and hash browns) twice a week was associated with an increased risk of death!
In fact, at the end of the study, 236 people passed away.
While un-fried white potatoes contain fiber and various nutrients, those that are cooked in oil are packed with fat and added salt.
However, don’t panic just yet! This deadly potato thesis needs more research with larger groups before it can become official.
Turns out, the spud is quite the dud!
