When we consider of a giants of Silicon Valley, Pinterest might not immediately open to mind.

But with 200 million active users and a new gratefulness of $12.3bn (£9bn), a height that started out in 2012 as a quirky online scrapbook has sensitively turn a prohibited commodity for advertisers and investors alike.

Perhaps that’s since Pinterest trainer Tim Kendall chooses to keep his cold with a daily ice bath.

And a BBC’s Zoe Kleinman found out that’s not his usually surprising routine…

Zoe Kleinman: Is it loyal that we have an ice bath any morning?

Tim Kendall: we now have a freezer on my behind rug that we put H2O into, and now we get into that since a bath with ice wasn’t utterly cold enough. So, it continues to escalate.

It’s like people carrying coffee in a morning. It’s a rather some-more impassioned chronicle of that.

It gives me a lot of energy, wakes me up, resets my mind and my body. Our days are prolonged and heated and we find that if we do it we feel improved via a day.

My children adore it. They like to speak to me while I’m in it, they ask how many it hurts, they drop their fingers in and afterwards shake and contend “Argh, it’s so cold!” They’re flattering entertained by it though we don’t know how prolonged that’s going to last.

I do ask them any once in a while, “Hey, do we wish to get in?” And they are really transparent that they do not wish to get in it.

ZK: You are eminent for always wearing a T-shirt with a word “Focus” on it. You’re wearing one currently – what’s that about?

TK: It’s a shirt that I’ve been wearing for roughly 5 years. It’s not a same shirt though it says a same word on it.

It started as a gamble with a co-worker of mine, saying who could wear a shirt for longer. He and we kept wearing it and eventually we kept wearing it longer.

The whole indicate is that we philosophically consider that if we do fewer things, we can do those fewer things many improved than if we are widespread opposite too many things.

It’s vicious that we remind ourselves of that. Sometimes I’m not good during focusing though if we put this shirt on any day, in a tiny partial it reminds me that we need to stay focused and remember to contend “No” a lot, that we consider many people – including myself – are not good at.

ZK: You don’t concede laptops or mobile phones in meetings. Isn’t that surprising for a tech boss?

TK: we don’t hang to my possess manners as many as we like to.

I consider that in my experience, if you’re carrying a assembly there’s substantially vicious information – hopefully. If it was set adult thoughtfully, a right people are in it and a bulletin is right, it should be calm we should be profitable courtesy to and if you’re on your phone or on your laptop we are really not profitable courtesy to it.

I’ve been in meetings where I’ve been on my laptop and I’ve missed vicious information that we indispensable to hear, so we try to make it rather spontaneous though a bit of a order that we try to to follow, so we’re all intent with any other.

When we leave a meeting, get behind on your laptop, get behind on your phone. But when you’re in a meeting, be in a meeting.
