At a 65th National Film Awards, late actor Vinod Khanna was posthumously distinguished with a Dadasaheb Phalke Award. This endowment is deliberate as a top honour in Indian cinema and is presented annually by a Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The endowment is given for a personality’s “outstanding grant to a expansion and growth of Indian cinema”.

Vinod Khanna is a 49th target of a Dadasaheb Phalke Award. In a career travelling over 4 decades, Khanna was essentially famous for his work in Hindi films during a 1970s. Amar Akbar Anthony, Mere Apne, Hera Pheri, Muqaddar Ka Sikander and Qurbani are only some of a renouned films that he has seemed in. After holding a brief mangle from a cinema in a 1980s, Khanna returned and gained commend for his performances in films like Chandni and Dayavan.

He was famous for his sexy character and stoical demeanour. His films alongside Amitabh Bachchan are still remembered as some of their best work. In his after years, Vinod Khanna seemed in many renouned films like Wanted, Dabangg and Dilwale among many others.

In a past, Dadasaheb Phalke Award has been given to distinguished film personalities like song executive Naushad, filmmaker Satyajit Ray, filmmaker Raj Kapoor, thespian Lata Mangeshkar, actor Dilip Kumar, actor Dev Anand, filmmaker Yash Chopra among many others. Writer Gulzar, actors Shashi Kapoor and Manoj Kumar have also been conferred with this honour.

Vinod Khanna’s son Rahul Khanna posted on Twitter, “So unapproachable to hear that my father has been posthumously awarded India’s top honour in cinema, a #DadasahebPhalkeAward during a #NationalFilmAwards! 1/2” He serve wrote, “As we proceed his initial genocide anniversary, it’s such a poetic proceed to applaud his life and work because, during his core, he wasn’t only an actor though also a lifelong film fan! 2/2”
