It’s a bit early, though unapproachable father John Legend has already given some suspicion to 16-month-old daughter Luna Simone being all grown adult and — gulp! — dating.
“I start off meditative about the form of person we wish her to be,” a musician and face of Axe‘s Find Your Magic debate tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue. “If she’s a chairman she needs to be in life, she’ll attract a right kind of guys and she’ll make a right choices.”
And he and mother Chrissy Teigen have a good diversion plan. “We’re going to only try to make her assured and intelligent and a good personality and kind and loving, and we feel like if we give her all a collection she needs, she’ll figure out a right chairman for her,” says a “All of Me” singer, 38.

While Luna is the apple of his eye, Legend doesn’t feel like he’ll be overprotective. “I’m fine with her creation mistakes, too, since that’s partial of flourishing up. we feel like I’ll be patient, and we don’t feel like I’ll be too strict.”
Legend, who’s partnered with Axe to coach teenagers on a pitfalls of poisonous masculinity, says he’s all about equivalence when it comes to his daughter.
“I don’t like a thought of treating a girls differently than we provide a boys, observant ‘Boys, go out there and have as most sex as we want, do whatever we want’ and afterwards a girls have to be sealed in a convent,” he explains. “I don’t trust in that. we only want to supply her to make a best decisions.”

“It was my initial debate with Luna and that was a lot of fun,” says Legend, who had a crib and changing hire commissioned on his bus.
“There were some literally crappy situations, some diaper changes,” he adds with a laugh. “It’s really different from my days on debate with [Kanye West] when we were, like, 25 years old. We’re all dads now. So most has changed.”
