When nation star Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren Akins‘ youngest daughter Ada James arrived home from a sanatorium in August, there was a honeyed and nauseating new space prepared and watchful for her.
“It’s a honeyed nursery. Not too most pinkish – I’m not a pinkish girl,” Lauren tells PEOPLE, observant that both a runner and bed in a now-6-week-old’s room embody a tone blue.
As for 22-month-old daughter Willa Gray‘s room, “[It’s] the same approach – we was austere about not carrying a hulk pinkish room for my girls,” she adds. “But we adore it. She seems to suffer it so far, so we consider it’s working.”

The hothouse – photographed by Julie Paisley – includes copiousness of special touches, including a framed duplicate of a print Lauren and Thomas Rhett used to share their pregnancy news with their families.
In a image, the spouses’ comparison daughter had a small pointer taped to her outfit that review “Big Sister.” Explains Thomas Rhett, 27, “I don’t consider Willa Gray knew what was happening!”
“We had singular resources on how we were going to tell a family,” shares Lauren, “so we had this design framed for everybody and that’s how we told everybody that she was entrance into a world. That’s substantially a sweetest thing in here, generally to us, since that was such a fun memory – perplexing to get that design and afterwards removing to tell everybody.”
Both Ada and Willa’s bedrooms are packaged with reading element (“We’ve got each singular Dr. Seuss book on a planet,” jokes Thomas Rhett), while a former also has a closet stocked with newborn-sized dresses, saved over a years by Lauren’s grandmother.
Willa – whom a couple adopted from Uganda in May – also has African animals and beads featured in her room’s artwork. Says Lauren, “Africa, obviously, is a outrageous partial of a lives and my heart and mission, so we consider that’s substantially heavier in her room.”

The span can’t keep Willa Gray out of her sister’s room, yet – specifically, a infant’s crib.
“She wants to get in a crib all day long,” says Lauren. “She wants to lay down and take naps with Ada, that she’s not unequivocally authorised to do. But she tries. She loves removing in a crib.”
