Indonesia bans Tumblr over porn

Indonesia has criminialized a blogging height Tumblr, observant that a site distributes racy content.

Azhar Hasyim, e-business executive during Indonesia’s Information Ministry, told a BBC a preference had been done but conference with a New York-based company, that is owned by Yahoo.

The closure was partial of a wider crackdown, with scarcely 500 sites close down by authorities, according to Indonesian media.

Earlier this month, Netflix was blocked by Indonesia’s biggest internet use provider, that pronounced it had concerns about a calm a height was offering.

And final May, video-hosting site Vimeo was blocked in a nation for purported carrying racy content.

Indonesia has in a past asked amicable media companies such as Twitter to put in place a special filter for racy content.

Companies that don’t approve can be charged according to Indonesian law.

Tumblr has been approached for comment.
