C.J. The German Shorthaired Pointer Wins 2016 Westminster Dog Show

Who’s a good doggie? C.J. certainly is, as the German Shorthaired Pointer won the highest honor at the 140 th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, taking home the coveted title of Best In Show on Feb. 17, proving that he is definitely top dog!

It’s time to wag your tail and bark at the moon! The Westminster Dog Show has crowned the Best In Show. After 3,000 dogs all competed in the prestigious competition, it all came down to one eventual winner: C.J. the German Shorthaired Pointer, a three-year-old male who has a long history of winning, now becomes the third in his breed to ever go Best in Show at Westminster.

The second night of the two-day event wrapped up at Madison Square Garden on Feb. 16. The Big Apple became the Big Squeaky Toy as the biggest night in the canine world crowned C.J.as Best In Show. This dog beat out six other breeds and thousands of other pooches for the top prize! Who deserves a treat? C.J. does!

Night two saw Charlie, the Skye Terrier who won his group, a fluffy white Samoyed named Bogey that won the Working group and ultimate winner C.J, the German Short-Haired Pointer who won the Sporting Group so the competition was going to be a fierce one!

Night one announced the winners of the Toy, Hound, Non Sport and Herding categories. Lucy the Borzoi, a gorgeous white dog, won the Hound group, while Panda the Shih Tzu took home the first place in the Toy group. It was a tough call between who was more popular: Annabelle the English Bulldog, winner of the Non-Sporting prize or Rumor, the German Shepherd, that won the Herding group. Last year’s winner, Miss P, made history by being the second Beagle to ever win Best In Show at the Westminster Club Dog Show. She beat out some gorgeous animals, including Good Time Charlie the Skye Terrier, who was 2015’s runner up. Before Miss P, Sky the Wire Fox Terrier took home the gold in 2014.
