Susan Sarandon doesn’t bewail a second of how — and when — she became a mom.
The maestro singer and her A Bad Moms Christmas costar (and on-screen daughter) Kathryn Hahn cover Good Housekeeping‘s double Thanksgiving Special issue, chatting about their real-life parenting experiences.
“I consider it was ‘Don’t have a baby,’ as yet it would hurt my career, and we was so aged anyway,” Sarandon — who is mom to a now-grown-up Miles Robbins, 25, Jack Robbins, 28, and Eva Amurri Martino, 32 — says of a misfortune recommendation she ever perceived from another mom.
“I had my initial baby during 39 and my third during 45, and with any child, [people were] like, ‘Are we crazy? Don’t!’ ” adds a Rocky Horror Picture Show star, now 71.

Today my 94 year aged grandmother met my son for a initial time. This design is kind of terrible (we are literally any looking in a opposite direction) though this afternoon was so special so this pic is too! Most of my cousins (more than 40!), and their babies, collected to applaud my grandmother’s birthday a integrate weeks early. She didn’t know we were going to applaud her birthday and when she satisfied she started crying. It’s extraordinary to consider that a 60+ people who were benefaction currently were there since this clever lady started a family. we can usually wish to be 94 one day, surrounded by my grandchildren and good grandchildren…rocking a super stylish coral manicure. ☺️✨❤🤗🌷🎂 #HappilyEvaAfter #Family #FamilyReunion #HappyBirthdayGigi

On a flip side, 44-year-old Hahn shares that a best recommendation she perceived was a adage, “the days are long, though a years are short.” (She and father Ethan Sandler share daughter Mae, 8, and son Leonard, 10).
“It’s true, when you’re in immature parenthood … we would dismay a night. But it also goes by so freakin’ quick — it’s like benefaction nostalgia, being a parent,” she says. “I remember looking during 3-to-6-month onesies and thinking, ‘Oh, she’ll never be in those,’ and now my daughter uses them for her dolls.”
But the Crossing Jordan alum has a good support system. “I found my clan of moms who have a same truth as we do of not holding myself too seriously,” she says. “We have a thing we say: ‘Unsubscribe!’ If there is any sound entrance during us, we only unsubscribe.”
Before any of it, there was us. Two firstborn daughters, roving all over a universe together vital a hobo life. To a OG driven, creative, amatory Working Mama extraordinaire who lifted me right: we adore you! Thank you. ❤️👑🙏🏼👯

Sarandon is a self-professed “silly grandmother” when it comes to Amurri Martino’s small ones: Major James, 1 this month, and 3-year-old Marlowe Mae — or rather, “Honey,” as her grandchildren know her.
“All my kids have a clarity of humor,” she shares. “I even have a jester nose for carrying critical conversations — it stops we from removing emotionally loaded.”
It helps that a star lives in a moment. “Perfection requires too most energy, so we gave it adult a while ago,” she explains. “It comes in accessible when we age, since there is this thought of beauty being perfection. Embracing what it is about we that creates we an particular goes palm in palm with that.”

Her stupid side helps a Oscar leader keep a positive, benefaction and picturesque opinion — a thesis she says is explored via her newest film. “When I’m not happy, it’s since I’ve mislaid my viewpoint and things that are not going to matter in 5 years or even 5 hours have taken over,” says Sarandon.
“A Bad Moms Christmas is about losing viewpoint and environment absurd goals that get in a approach of what should be fun during a holidays,” she explains. “Just obey a thought that you’re going to do all right, since a contingency are not in your favor.”
