Who Were San Bernardino Shooters Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik?

One hermit favourite to celebration and follow girls. After high school, changed by what he saw as his nationalistic duty, he enlisted in a Navy and perceived dual medals noticing his contributions to “the tellurian fight on terror.”

The other was deeply eremite and became increasingly intolerant, eventually nursing a flourishing loathing that led him, along with his wife, to open glow on a San Bernardino holiday celebration final week, in what law coercion officials have termed a militant attack.

Syed Raheel Farook and his younger hermit Syed Rizwan Farook grew adult in a same house, attended a same high propagandize dual years detached and, as teenagers, mostly socialized in a same groups. But as they grew comparison their paths diverged.

The resisting lives of a Farook brothers, described by friends, neighbors and former classmates who knew them both, is a unfortunate tale, in partial since there are so few clues to because they incited out so differently.

The family, including Raheel, declined steady requests by their lawyers for criticism for this story. But those who knew a brothers contend that by high school, their differences were apparent and growing.

“Most people here go to mosque to greatfully their parents,” pronounced Shakib Ahmed, who attended mosque with a Farooks.

Raheel, a comparison brother, was that kind of kid, he said. He went to Friday prayers, yet he also favourite to splash and had a partner in high propagandize who wasn’t Muslim.

Rizwan was quieter and some-more critical – and distant some-more religious. Only with his comparison brother, friends said, did they see Rizwan remove his temper.

“He was good to everybody else, yet he was kind of a winning type. He would scream during his brother,” Ahmed said.

Soon after graduating from high propagandize in 2003, with a U.S. advance of Iraq usually months old, Raheel assimilated adult and went off to foot stay in Illinois, according to naval records. In 2004, he was reserved to offer on a USS Enterprise as an information complement technician.

Back home, Rizwan, a splendid boy, finished high propagandize a year early according to propagandize records. In a years that followed, friends and neighbors say, he quit wearing jeans and polo shirts and donned robes.

“I beheld a change with a garments and a beard,” pronounced Ahmed.

At home, there was augmenting turmoil. In 2006, a boys mother, Rafia Farook, filed for divorce from her father Syed after some-more than 24 years of marriage, according to justice documents.

In justice filings, Rafia cited mixed instances of domestic abuse, reporting that her father was “mentally ill” and threatened “to kill himself on a daily basis.” During one aroused incident, she said, her son came between them “to save me.”

Gasser Shehata, a crony of Rizwan’s from a San Bernardino mosque, pronounced that Rizwan talked to him in new years about his eremite issues with his father while flourishing up, and how he came to side with his mom in their disputes. Shehata pronounced that Rizwan told him that his father refused to urge regularly, that was a source of tension.

When Rizwan assimilated a dating site in 2013, his form described how he spent most of his giveaway time “memorizing a Qur’an and training some-more about a religion.”

At one point, Raheel even teased his younger brother, job him “Rizi,” that Rizwan took in good humor.

Some of those who knew a Farooks have suspicion deeply about a brothers and their differences in new days. But many of a things they come adult with could request to any siblings.

“Raheel was usually a normal … guy,” pronounced Usmaan Arshad, who attended La Sierra High School with a brothers. “No one talked to Rizwan,” he said.

Rose Aguirre, a neighbor of a family for years, pronounced a disproportion between a Farook sons had seemed to her to boil down to a fact that Raheel was “more personable, some-more Americanized” than his brother.

But those characterizations worked usually before final week, when it became apparent that a differences went distant deeper.

Attorney David Chesley told CNN on Monday that Raheel “is really dissapoint with his brother.”

“He’s totally vexed and damaged with grief.”
